How To Get Here From Singapore

By Air | By Land'n'Sea

By Air

Berjaya Air now leaves from the budget terminal at Changi Airport, Singapore.
Tel no: +60 3 7846 8228 or +60 3 784 65641.

Berjaya Air is a subsidiary of the Berjaya Resorts group, and transports guests to the Berjaya resort on Tioman. The flight takes just 40 mins. The service is also available for those traveling to Tioman but not staying at the resort. They have several Dash 7 aircraft, which are 48-seaters. It looks small, but it's safe, with experienced pilots and friendly cabin crew. By the way, don't be squeamish if at first you don't spot the landing strip. There IS one! We are told the pilots practised landing on postage stamps prior to taking this gig.

Please check their website for schedules and fees as they can change according to the season. Berjaya website

Please note:
1. During the season there are often extra flights on busy (local holiday) weekends.
2. You can make reservation on their website and collect your air ticket one hour before departure.

All flights land at Tekek airport in Tioman and if you call us before hand we'll be glad to come and pick you up. Otherwise, Tioman Dive Centre is a short ten-minute walk away!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DIRECT FERRY BETWEEN TIOMAN AND SINGAPORE, OPERATED BY PENGUIN FERRY SERVICES, CEASED RUNNING IN JUNE 2004. THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE DIRECT FERRY FROM SINGAPORE AT THIS MOMENT.

Mersing Jetty
Arranging your own travel via Mersing is very simple. Transnasional buses travel direct from Singapore to Mersing. Departure is from Kallang Bahru/Lavender Street junction (lorry park) at 9am, 10am and 10pm. Only S$ 11.10.
Call Pan Malaysia Express:+65 62947034, or +65 62947035. Fax +65 62991952.
Or try Five Star coaches that leave from the Golden Mile Complex at 6:30am every day.

Alternatively catch a bus from the terminal at Queen St/Ban San St. Take the Singapore-Johore Express directy to Larkin Bus Terminal in Malaysia. Only S$ 2.40, aircon. From LBT, take Adikberadkik Express service at 9.00am, 10.00am, 9.00pm and 10.30pm (ticket counters no 6 & 30) or Transnasional service at 10.00 am, 11.00am, 10.30pm and 11.00 pm.

If you wish to take taxi, there are taxis at Rochor Bus Terminal on Ban San Street which could take you across the causeway for S$ 28. There are taxis available at Larkin Bus Station at Johor Baru and it will cost RM100 - RM130 per taxi hire to Mersing which takes between 2 - 3 hours.

Remember however, that if you leave Singapore too late, you might not be able to catch a ferry or speedboat in Mersing the same day. It's always best to try to be there as early as possible.

Once you get to Mersing you will need to catch the ferry.

Mersing - Tioman - Ferry

Blue Water Express are the main ferry company from Mersing to Tioman and back. They do not depart on a regular basis, but are dependent on tide levels. The journey takes around 2 hours but depends on sea conditions. Tickets are RM 70 return. We are based in TEKEK, which is usually the second or third stop.

You can book tickets online through www.tiomanferry.com. Please be aware that schedules change without warning so give Blue Water Express a call if you want to double-check their schedule: +60 7 7994 811 or +60 7 799 8518. Its a good idea to book a ticket and essential to book if it's a public holiday. Before leaving Mersing you will be asked to pay the RM 5 Marine Park Conservation fee.

Occasionally, other ferry services start up from Mersing, so stay open to options!

Tanjung Gemuk jetty
This is another point that you can catch ferries to Tioman, in the state of Pahang between Endau and Rompin and it's about 30 minutes north of Mersing on the coast. All buses from KL to Mersing will pass this area, just ask the bus driver to let you off at Tanjung Gemuk jetty. If you are coming from KL, instead of exiting the North-South Expressway at Ayer Hitam and following the Kluang route, exit Seremban instead, follow Kuala Pilah, Muadzam Shah and along the coastal road.

There are a couple of ferries from Tanjung Gemuk. Blue Water Express are one (please see above for contact information) and there is at least one other. However, we suggest you head over to the jetty there to get up to date information about other companies as these often change. This journey is just between 1.5 - 2 hours.

Let us know what time you will be getting into Tekek and we'll happily organise transport to TDC.
